God Wants to Bless You

WE MUST NOT REJECT GOD’S PLANS FOR US.

Don’t get discouraged. God has got wonderful things is store for us. We do not need to fear. His plans for us are far better then the best plans we can have for ourselves.

Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’

Follow our own plans CAN lead to problems. Following God’s plans will always bring success.

IT IS TIME TO FOLLOW GOD’S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES.

Perhaps up to now you have been pursuing your own plans. Perhaps they have brought you success and perhaps they have brought you sadness and discouragement. BUT there is a better way. In fact it is the best way. GOD’S PLAN FOR YOU AND ME. If you have been following your own ideas to the point where they have excluded what God had planned, then it is time to repent. Put the matter right with God and begin to listen for and follow His plan. God has great things in store for each of us.

GOD WANTS TO BLESS YOU.

As we endeavor to follow God’s plans, He wants to bless us.

Isaiah 30:18 ‘Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.’

When we come to the end of ourselves, it is time to turn to God. He wants to bless you and be good to you. Let’s start all over again. God’s plans for us will always be the best thing for us.

God’s Plan is That We Will Lead by His Spirit

GOD’S PLAN IS THAT WE WILL BE LEAD BY HIS SPIRIT.

Isaiah 30:1 ‘Woe to the obstinate children, declares the Lord, to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit …. ’

God desires that we should know the Holy Spirit and be lead by Him. The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead and to guide us into what God has for us. What God has for us is the best thing for us. Anything else will end up costing too much. ‘Forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit …. ’ Our alliances and connections are important to God. How often Christians form alliances that are not of God’s Spirit.

EXAMPLE: Marriage alliances, friendship alliances, and business alliances.

God’s plan is that we will be lead by His Spirit in all aspects of our lives.

DOING OUR OWN THING CAN AMOUNT TO SIN.

Isaiah 30:1 ‘Woe to the obstinate children, declares the Lord, to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin.’

Pursuing this course of action results in accumulating sin on sin. This is the scary bit. Some people think that they can do just as they see fit and God must close the door if it is not right. God is a gracious God and He will do this from time to time, BUT He wants us to desire His plans and the direct leading of His Holy Spirit. We cannot willfully live outside the will of God and get away with it.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO LISTEN AND FOLLOW GOD’S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES.

Some people are not willing to respond to the instructions of the Lord. Instructions for His word, the Bible. Instructions from His Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 30:9 ‘These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.’

When it comes to the plan of God for our lives there are two important things.

1. Listening. We need to learn to listen. Especially to what the Holy Spirit would say to us.

2. Following. Once we have learnt to listen, it is time for obedience.

We need to listen and follow what God has for us.

God’s Plans for Our Lives Are Always the Best

GOD’S PLANS FOR OUR LIVES ARE ALWAYS THE BEST.

We all want the best for ourselves and those around us. This is good. It is a good desire. But sometimes we are convinced that our good ideas are what is the best thing. Our good ideas can take us a long way. Our good ideas can bring us success and honor. But what is the best thing for each of us. It is to know and to follow God’s plan for our lives. His plans are the best thing for us. It is what we were created for.

FOLLOWING A PLAN THAT IS NOT GOD’S PLAN.

Isaiah 30:1 ‘Woe to the obstinate children, declares the Lord, to those who carry out plans that are not mine.’

People who do their own thing can be considered obstinate. There is arrogance, in insisting on doing what you think is best. It is important to God that we carry out His plans. God wants the best for each of us. He knows what is best and desires that we follow His plans for us. The world has conditioned us to believe that we know what is in our best interests and in the process we do what we want to do and we miss what God has for us.

God’s Plan is Always the Best

We all have many plans. We all have our own dreams and hopes. We want to be a success and do our best. What we plan for ourselves can never compare to what God has planned for us. What plan are you following for yourself? The plans that you have for those around you, whose plan is it. Often times we are sure we know what is the best thing to do but Some times we are not sure what is the best thing to do. Whatever the situation, God’s plans are still the best thing for our lives.

THE GOOD IDEA AND THE GOD IDEA.

This is the main area where a problem can be experienced. Often times we are convinced that our good ideas are God ideas. This may be the case and it may not be the case at all. Some people have endeavored to follow God’s plans and yet often slip back into good ideas. God wants the best for each of us. He has a blueprint for each of our lives. For you and for me. Our lives can be full of good ideas, when our lives should be filled with God ideas.

Expect Your Breakthrough

A woman standing at the ocean with her arms lifted in praise

EXPECT YOUR BREAKTHROUGH.

Expectation is a very important aspect. Expectation is a form of faith and Faith is the thing that moves God. There needs to be an expectation in our heart regarding the breakthrough that we are anticipating! Years ago we used to sing: ‘Expect a miracle everyday; expect a miracle when you pray. If you believe it God will make a way to perform a miracle for you each day. The issue is do we live with expectation? I want to challenge you and encourage at the same time to begin to allow an expectation to arise in your heart!

1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world.

SUDDENLY.

Remember our definition: Breakthrough is a sudden advance. With God anything can happen at any time. God is the God of the suddenlies.

Matthew 9:29-30 Then He touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith it will happen.” And suddenly they could see!

Mark 1:31 He went to her bedside, and as he took her by the hand and helped her to sit up, the fever suddenly left, and she got up and prepared dinner for them!

Acts 16:26 suddenly there was a great earthquake; the prison was shaken to its foundations, all the doors flew open—and the chains of every prisoner fell off!

GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Never forget that God is still in control. Nothing is to hard for Him and no situation or circumstance is beyond His reach. Breakthrough is part of God’s very nature. God is the one who is in the business of making a way where there seems to be no way. He can take impossibility and make it happen. Don’t limit God.

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Expect your breakthrough it is closer than you think!

The Role of Attitude

A woman standing at the ocean with her arms lifted in praise

THE ROLE OF ATTITUDE

Our attitudes play a major role in realizing the breakthrough that we are trusting for. In aircraft there is an instrument called the ATTITUDE meter. The attitude meter measures the position of the nose of the plane. The nose position is very important. NOSE UP and we are making progress. NOSE DOWN and we are in decline/decent. We need to constantly evaluate our attitude and ensure that we are ‘nose up’ with hope and expectation in God.

WATCH YOUR CONFESSION.

Watching our confession is another important aspect. We can undermine our trust and expectation when we begin to say negative things or begin to think negative thoughts. We must watch our confession.

Romans 4:17 He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

Begin to confess your victory. Begin to confess your answer to prayer. Begin to confess your breakthrough. If your heart is full of expectation, then you mouth will speak about it!

Your Breakthrough is Awaiting You

YOUR BREAKTHROUGH IS AWAITING YOU.

I believe that God has got breakthrough for each of us. If we give up and throw in the towel we will miss the breakthrough that God has for us. It is only as we continue to hold onto God that the possibility of breakthrough can become a reality. With God anything can happen! We must not limit God in any way. Your breakthrough is waiting for you. Hold on and keep on holding on!

STOP THE ROT!

We must fight against those things, which would undermine our trust and expectation in what God can do. Rot sets in when we begin to DOUBT. Doubt in turn leads to disbelief and this in turn leads to a feeling that nothing can change. In the process we begin to feel that God has forgotten about us or that He is unaware of our situation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t allow this kind of rot to take root in your heart! Deal ruthlessly with things that would cause you to doubt.

It’s Time for Breakthrough

We all long to experience breakthrough in some area of our lives. I can almost guarantee that right now there is some area in which you would love to experience a breakthrough. Breakthrough is part of God’s plan for you. No matter how long you have been trusting God, it is not the time to get discouraged and give up. Now is the time to trust God and to hold on to what He has said and to believe Him with expectant hearts. God is able to turn any situation around and He is able to make a way where there seems to be no way.

GOD’S PLAN

God’s plan is that we should experience breakthrough.

DEFINITION:

1. The dictionary tells us that a breakthrough is a ‘major advance’.

2. An instance of breaking through an obstruction.

3. A sudden advance.

Perhaps you have been battling in some area or another and God wants to step in and bring a MAJOR ADVANCE. Breakthrough means a major step forward from where you are. It includes release, liberation and freedom. Nothing is hard for God! Nothing you are facing, experiencing or trusting God for, is He unable to perform!

Jeremiah 32:27 I am the Lord, the God of all mankind; is there anything too hard for me?

Jeremiah 32:15 O Lord God! You have made the heavens and earth by your great power; nothing is too hard for you!

God Has Something Good in Store

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Luke 11:10 Everyone who asks, receives; all who seek, find; and the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

This is perhaps the most rewarding scripture. The issue is that everyone receives. This is also a promise. If we will pray, asking and seeking and knocking at God’s door, holding on through the ‘faith period’, God has something in store for us. What do you think the implications are for you in the light of this scripture? We may not get exactly what we ask for, but perhaps we will get what is right and best for us. The key words in this scripture are ‘everyone and all’. That includes you!

GOD HAS SOMETHING GOOD IN STORE

This is something special. God has something good in store for each one of us. As we ask God and seek God and knock, God wants to bless us with good things.

Luke 11:11-13 “You men who are fathers—if your boy asks for bread, do you give him a stone? If he asks for fish, do you give him a snake? If he asks for an egg, do you give him a scorpion? Of course not! “And if even sinful persons like yourselves give children what they need, don’t you realize that your heavenly Father will do at least as much, and give the Holy Spirit to those who ask for him?”

We can trust God!

WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT

We need the Holy Spirit in the all-important aspect of prayer.

Romans 8:26 And in the same way—by our faith—the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.

The aspect of prayer is something most Christians battle with. Again God has provided someone who will help us in our praying. Our Heavenly Father will give us His Holy Spirit to help us. Prayer is not a matter that has been left totally to us. We have been given someone who will help us and He is the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, we invite you into our lives. Please come and help us in our daily lives and in our praying. We need you! Amen.

The Reward

THE REWARD

Luke 11:9 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Jesus makes it very clear that those who keep on asking, seeking, and knocking will receive!  It is clear from the three statements in the above verse:

1. ‘It will be given to you!‘

2. ‘You will find!‘

3. ‘It will be opened to you.’

These three statements are all in the future tense. The implication is that between the asking, seeking and knocking there may well be a period of time! The best name for this period is the ‘faith period’.

THE FAITH PERIOD

This is perhaps the most difficult period. It is in this period that we can blow it or press through to it. What usually happens in this period? I believe that there are basically two things that can take place.

1. We can believe and hold on.

2. We can doubt.

It is during this period that we need to resist all unbelief and doubt and hang in, in faith. Doubt will come and that is why we must not allow it to overwhelm us. In this faith period we must keep on asking, seeking and knocking!
